Albion Online Introduces New Expedition Missions For PVE Content

Upcoming open-world sandbox MMORPG Albion Online has released a new teaser article on their blog. The blog post has revealed new player versus environment content for the game, called Expeditions.

Developers Sandbox Interactive has said that Expedition missions are brief instanced content. This means that players can do either solo or with a group of up to five players. Expeditions will come in a variety of difficulty options too. This allows players the option to pick their own adventures. This means that players can also customize what will happen in one of these missions.

Albion Online’s Expedition missions sounds very much like Skirmishes in The Lord of The Rings Online. Skirmishes are instances that players can jump in whenever they want to tackle a short instance for easy experience and rewards. According to the developers, the intention was to provide content for players who do not have much time to play. Expedition missions can also help prepare players who aren’t ready to explore the huge open world.

Taking part in Expedition missions will award players with a decent amount of currency. Players will get silver, fame and Royal Sigils plus bonuses if done daily. The addition of Royal Sigils as a reward is a nice touch as well as it can be used to craft Royal armor in the game.

The Expedition missions will take approximately 20 – 30 minutes to complete.  Players should keep in mind that the time it takes to complete an Expedition mission will depend on group size and difficulty. The game is coming out sometime in 2017 and is currently in the final round of beta testing. The great news is that the amount of content that the developers are showing off to public is pretty exciting.

One of the top concerns currently is that progression feels sluggish and slow. We’ll have to wait and see if Expedition missions will give players more incentive to mix up their leveling approach on the way to end-game. But overall the inclusion of more player versus environment content is a great way to keep the game interesting.
