Path of Fire Will Offer GW2 Players Meaningful Class Customization

Guild Wars 2 players will receive 9 new elite specializations for their classes in Path of Fire. ArenaNet has released a behind-the-scenes video on the thought process of creating the new elite specs.

One of the goals for Path of Fire is to introduce a play style that is completely new for each profession. All classes will now have new weapons to use, which diversifies gear progression moving forward. In the video, the developers do not that this comes with certain challenges.

Among them was how to balance the new elite specializations for all existing game modes. The process involves rigorous testing in PvE in solo and group modes, on top of WvW and sPvP. A few of the new elite specs are drastically different from previous specializations. This is done to ensure that players will feel like they’re playing an entirely different class altogether.

At the end of the day, the goal for the new elite specs is for players to feel overwhelmed by the choices at their disposal. But regardless of how one plays, they want you to feel that all of the choices that you make will be meaningful.

Guild Wars 2’s Path of Fire goes live on September 22nd. For more information about GW2 or the expansion, check out the official website here.
